
Everything You Need to Know about DrupalCamp London 2018
The DrupalCamp London 2018 schedule has now been released and it’s looking to be the best year yet.
As January comes to an end, we draw closer to one of the most exciting events of the year. There are now just 31 days to go until DrupalCamp London 2018 takes over City University for three days of sprints, learning sessions, BOFs and keynotes.
The event schedule was recently unveiled and this year is looking to be bigger and better than ever before. We’re giving you the down-low on what DrupalCamp London attendees can look forward to.
The Keynote Speakers
CxO Day
The CxO Day, which is primarily a day for business leaders in the Drupal industry, has several influential keynote speakers from a diverse range of professions.
Paul (Pablo) Ettinger
Paul Ettinger, otherwise known as Pablo Ettinger, is an entrepreneurial butterfly who specialises in a variety of industries. As the co-founder of Caffe Nero, Paul has seen the success of his coffee house brand spread across Europe. As the co-founder of TALENTBANQ, he has helped unsigned musicians develop a career and orchestrated live productions. And as the founder investor and Chairman of Streetlife.com he has strengthened local communities through social networking. Paul is a man of many talents that everyone can learn something from and as a mentor to young entrepreneurs, he is a source of invaluable knowledge if you are part of a budding startup.
Megan (Byrd) Sanicki
The Drupal Association’s very own Executive Director, Megan (Byrd) Sanicki, will be taking to the stand to discuss leadership on one of the largest open source projects in the world. Megan oversees the unification of our 95,000 active global community members to help build and promote Drupal. From 2 million unique visitors a month on Drupal.org to over 6,000 attendees at DrupalCon events, Megan helps to foster the contribution journey that produces remarkable software and encourages people to create amazing things. Without Megan’s expertise, the Drupal community would not thrive or have a future, so her keynote is highly relevant to every single attendee.
Barney Brown
Barney Brown is the Head of Digital Communications at one of the oldest and highest ranking universities in existence; the University of Cambridge. For 10 years, Barney has been leading a small team in the management of thousands of websites and hundreds of social media profiles in the university’s name. He has been a key player in ensuring that this traditional, long-established institute stays relevant in this digital age by using Drupal to create a modern and cohesive website for the university. BrightLemon were proud to work closely with Barney on this project and can guarantee that his discussion will be filled with a Drupal story that is unique to any other.
Dave O’Caroll
Dave O’Carroll is the Head of Digital at War Child UK and manages all of their digital communication channels, platforms and creative. His keynote will highlight the incredible changes that the rebuild of the charity website has resulted in – from their end user experience to their newfound ability to increase their impact across the digital sphere.
Roberta Lucca
Roberta Lucca is an incredible role model for both women and men in the tech industry – she has been voted in the ‘Top 35 Women Under 35’ by Management Today, ‘Top 3 Women in Games’, ‘Influential Tech Leader’ and was Everywoman’s ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ finalist. Roberta has one of the most interesting success stories. If you can think of any innovative gaming product or idea, Roberta has probably done it already, as in the last 15 years she has built and launched over 20 digital/mobile products and games. She co-founded Bossa Studios, a multi-million dollar revenue Scale-Up that was awarded a BAFTA, and also co-founded WonderLuk, a 3D printing platform for design lovers. As a self-titled change catalyst and leadership speaker, Roberta’s keynote is one that will inspire you to be bold and make things happen.
Saturday: Weekend Ticket
Weekend-ticket attendees can look forward to fueling their body and mind on Saturday morning, with breakfast followed by a keynote. The DrupalCamp London experience will be kick-started with a talk from one of the top dogs in Drupal.
Ryan Szrama
Ryan Szrama is a well-known face and name within the Drupal community. As the co-founder and now President/CEO of CommerceGuys, he is an eCommerce guru that has earned several awards and worked with many high-profile clients. CommerceGuys is the leading eCommerce solution within the Drupal industry and is currently the fastest growing open source software company in the world. Ryan start off as a web developer for an online sales company, Ubercart, where he helped it grow to be used on 20,000 websites and became Project Lead and community face of the project. He also led the development of Drupal Commerce for Drupal 7, where he grew the new project from its first full release at DrupalCon London to its use today on over 60,000 websites.
Sunday: Weekend Ticket
The final day of DrupalCamp London will treat attendees to two brilliant keynote speakers.
Chris Teitzel
Chris Teitzel is the founder/CEO of Cellar Door Media and Lockr.io. Originally a molecular biologist, he now works to create mobile strategies for clients. He has been a driving force behind change within Drupal and strives to make it a suitable and accessible piece of software for everyone. He has a strong commitment to the Drupal community over the last 8 years and has actively taken part in all aspects of it. He helped to drive documentation and community support to lower the bar for theming in Drupal. He now builds everything from bootstrapped humanitarian tools based on SMS to airline ticketing systems built in Drupal Commerce. More recently, he is focused on security within Drupal, specifically around data privacy and security. Once again, he is striving to lower the bar for developers to adhere to best practices.
Baddý Sonja Breidert
Baddý Sonja Breidert is the CEO and Co-Founder of 1xINTERNET, one of the largest Drupal web agencies in Germany. 1xINTERNET has offices in Germany and Spain and has clients all over Europe. She graduated with BSc in Computer Science from the University of Reykjavik in 2003 and after that completed her MSc in Engineering Management from the Technical University of Vienna, where she today teaches Agile Project management and IT. She is also a European champion in Robotic Soccer, where she competed with her University in 2008. Baddý has been very active in the Drupal community and has organised conferences and events both in Iceland and Germany. Currently, she is one of the main organisers of Drupal Europe, which will take place in fall 2018.
