English Online Receives Backing of Number Ten

On a trip to China, the British Prime Minister Gordon Brown declared his full support for the British Council’s English Online social networking website, which was designed and built by Brightlemon. The site is an online resource for Chinese people wishing to learn the English language.

The social networking website englishonline.org.cn which was designed and built by Brightlemon features video, games, audio, images and written content uploaded by the site’s administrators used to help in the teaching and learning of English as a second language for Chinese people. Users can comment on each other’s work, make and update their own user profile page and post in the site’s forums. The English Online social networking website was built by Brightlemon using the Drupal Content Management platform. (Note due to connectivity issues this website may be slow for visitors outside of China).

English Online is an initiative that was developed by the British Council to encourage the learning of English in China. Brightlemon London was appointed to develop the site after a careful selection process, and the website was so successful that it was referenced in Gordon Brown’s 2008 visit to China.
